S3 03 - Jasyn Howes on “The ABC Killer”

Gino Shelile, Jasyn Howes Season 3 Episode 3

As the schools go back, it was time for Gino to brush up on his ABC's. Not his schoolwork, but the notorious serial murderer of the 90s, dubbed "The ABC Killer".

In 1995, journalist Tamsen de Beer was working the night shift at The Star newspaper when she got a call from someone claiming to be South Africa’s most prolific serial killer, a man who would go on to be convicted of killing nearly 40 women in the space of just over a year. Today, that man is serving 2 410 years in prison.

The story of Moses Sithole is told in a brand new three-part true crime documentary series on Showmax, directed by Jasyn Howes, nominated for a SAFTA for his documentary of another Mzansi serial killer, Boetie Boer.

In this episode Gino chats to the multi-award winning director about The ABC Killer series, its effect on him, as well as the fascinating range of people involved, from "Charlie" who knew Sithole in prison to Nelson Mandela, and his personal involvment in the case.

Don't miss this chilling series, streaming on Showmax.
