S3 09 - Tendayi Nyeke on “Loved Out”

Gino Shelile, Tendayi Nyeke Season 3 Episode 9

In our bid to bring you all the best from the African diaspora as well as what's happening in your own backyard, this ep sees Gino reach out to L.A. to chat via Zoom, to Tendayi Nyeke, writer, director and producer of the brand new comedy, Loved Out.

Born in Zimbabwe and having lived and worked in Australia, the UK, and South Africa, Tendayi Nyeke's producing work has been nominated for South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) in multiple genres. Also, a former Writer's Guild of SA council member, Tendayi has worked as a film and television executive on several award-winning shows and has written, produced, and directed television programs across South Africa's major broadcasters.

Gino finds out what it was like to move around so much before settling in the US, and more importantly, what it will be like screening Loved Out in Zimbabwe.

Ten years in the making, Loved Out throws together a toxic frenemy, a high-stakes cooking competition, a shady preacher, and a kidnapped mom in an unapologetic blend of humour, social commentary, and African city glam. Catch it on the silver screen from September 26.
